Google Releases Full Report of FCC Investigation Into Street View Probe, Finds That Senior Staff Knew

evilbearEarlier today Google released the full report of the FCC's investigation into the collection of? "payload data" from open Wi-Fi networks -- aka passwords, email and search history from open networks -- that its fleet of Street View cars obtained between 2008 and April 2010. An earlier and heavily redacted version of the report was released on April 15 but today's version only redacted the names of individuals. The report found no violation of any wrong doing by the company because there was no legal precedent on the matter. The FCC found that Google did not violate the Communications Act citing the fact that Wi-Fi did not exist when it was written. However,?the FCC did fine Google $25,000 for obstructing the investigation, which was presumably the outcome of Google refusing to show the FCC what the data being collected entailed because it might have shown that the company broke privacy and wiretapping laws. Google says any obstruction was result of the FCC dragging out the investigation. Interestingly enough, the report did reveal that the data harvesting was not the act of a rogue engineer and that said engineer notified the Street View team of what was going on. (Wait. What? Google knew this was going on! It gets even better.)

Everything You Need to Know About the Higgs Boson in Under Eight Minutes [Video]

The Higgs Boson is kind of a big deal. If it does exist, it could provide a key to unifying the standard and quantum models of physics. But what is a Higgs Boson, what does it do, and how does it work? With the help of this animated short, UCI physics professor Daniel Whiteson breaks down the basics of this mysterious particle (or is it a field?) in a way even your parents can understand. Karla Vanessa Perez: Pregnant With NINE Kids!

Karla Vanessa Perez, a Mexican woman already nicknamed NuevaMom by TMZ and other celebrity gossip sites, is reportedly pregnant with nine kids! NINE!

That puts Octomom to shame! Or at least beats her by one embryo.

Perez is a month away from giving birth to six girls and three boys. Like Nadya Suleman, fertility treatments led to her record-breaking multiple pregnancy.

OctoMex

This is not Perez. It's Octomom photoshopped in front of a Mexican flag.

Perez confirmed the news to Mexico's Notimex news agency, saying, "It's very early to think of names for the babies ... first I hope that everything goes well."

We hope so too ... during the pregnancy and afterward. In Octomom's case, it has not, judging by the fact that she's now on welfare and may lose her kids.

No word yet if NuevaMom is also unmarried, with six offspring already, financially insolvent to the point where her kids have to poop outside, and/or insane.

The browser-based game is a series of maze challenges, that'll take you through the streets of San Francisco, downtown Tokyo and beyond. All atop Google's iconic 3D textured maps, naturally. Eight levels in total are on offer, making it an ideal lunchtime -- or if the boss is away -- afternoon time kill. Roll down to the source link below to give it a spin, nudge and roll.

TheWhoot Co-Founders On Taking The Flakiness Out Of Social Planning

Screen shot 2012-04-27 at 11.07.40 AMBack in the day, before the cell phone, people had to be where they said they'd be. There was no such thing as flaking out, and if you did, you were just a bad person. But these days, even when we make a firm commitment, the convenience of cell phones makes it really easy to flake out at the last second. But co-founders Ryan Coyne and Will Quartner think that going out and having fun with your friends shouldn't have to be so difficult, and thus was born TheWhoot.

Trained By The Best: Facebook And J.C. Penny Both Hire Away Apple Execs

apple-logoSo, in case you haven't heard, Apple is doing pretty well. Things are different now without Steve at the helm, but change isn't always bad. Although George Colony, taking the contrarian approach, would like to disagree. Today, we've gotten word that Apple Senior Art Director Sharon Hwang, who headed the graphics design team, has left Apple to join Facebook's product design team. Though it looks like Hwang joined Facebook last month, the Facebook Design Team officially announced her hiring today -- fittingly, on their Facebook page.

MakerBot printing out Robot Petting Zoo for Maker Faire

Sure, it's no $500 3D printer, but the folks at MakerBot always have plenty of fun stuff floating around their Brooklyn headquarters. Stuff like, you know, a Robot Petting Zoo. The company's prepping a slew of 3D printed 'bots for display at the upcoming Maker Faire in California. CNET's got shots of the robots, each of which have special functionality like old Button Bot pictured above -- not so great for petting, but he likely knows more tricks that your average sheep. Urijah Faber?s mom stops burglary

Urijah Faber's mother showed her own brand of toughness when a robber stopped by the place she was house-sitting. According to Faber, who is currently coaching on "The Ultimate Fighter" and preparing for a UFC 148 title bout with Dominick Cruz, Suzanne Faber used a pellet gun to stop a burglar in the backyard. The burglar thought she was using a real gun. She then held him off until police arrived.

MMA mothers regularly show their toughness. They watch their children get pummeled, support them through their ups and downs, sometimes even help with their careers. Is it a surprise that one of them could stop a crime in its tracks?

Justin Bethel, NFL Draft Prospect, Shows Off INSANE Vertical

Justin Bethel, a defensive back from Presbyterian College and NFL draft hopeful, may never make it to the pros - but at least he's made an awesome viral video.

Prepping for workouts he hopes will earn him a spot on an NFL team next fall, the football star was caught on video jumping onto boxes five feet into the air.

That's a vertical leap of 60 inches. Yes, six-zero.

Bethel is a pretty legit player, too. He was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year, recording 87 total tackles with 3.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, a forced fumble, three blocked kicks, four interceptions and a punt return touchdown.

Athletic, competitive and versatile, while possessing strong character, motivation, intelligence and work ethic, some scouts say he could be a draft sleeper.

Here's hoping, if only for more clips like this.
