WWE Takes Steve Austin's Recent Twitter Remark To Sheamus Out Of Context During Raw

As Sheamus was making his ring entrance for his match against CM Punk on Raw Monday, WWE broadcaster and mouthpiece Michael Cole acknowledged WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's Twitter remark to the WWE Champion on Saturday by taking it out of context.

"Go get em, kid. Always be a student of the game and keep working hard. Safe travels. #respect from the #BSR," Austin wrote.

The statement was in response to Sheamus respectfully acknowledging Austin's critical remarks regarding his performance level in a recent column for Fighting Spirit Magazine. The SmackDown wrestler tweeted, "Appreciate words from @steveaustinBSR - i strive to get better everyday fella & hard work is something i love.. See me bring Hell in a Cell."

Cole instead branded the exchange as Austin taking the initiative to give the WWE Champion a ringing endorsement on Twitter, and Sheamus responding to it. The WWE Hall of Famer's critical column remarks were not acknowledged on-air.

In the column, Austin offered his opinion on WWE's World Titles and said Sheamus is not ready to be World Heavyweight Champion.

"Sheamus is a big talented dude, no doubt about it. Can he get to where the company wants him to go? That remains to be seen, and there's a lot of work required from both him and the company in order to jump to that superstar level," Austin wrote. "He's doing fine for the amount of time he's been in the business, and there is no disrespect intended, but there are so many aspects that go towards making a guy draw money with the title."

Green Tea & Cancer Prevention: New Clues | Health X Pert Articles ...

WebMD Medical News By Kathleen Doheny Reviewed by Louise Chang, MD Oct. 18, 2012 (Anaheim, Calif.) ? Green tea and its extracts have long been studied for health benefits, including cancer prevention. Now, researchers have new clues about how it may work to help prevent or slow the growth of prostate and breast cancers. Researchers presented the new findings here today at the American Association for Cancer Research meeting on cancer prevention. Green Tea and Prostate Cancer Men with prostate cancer who drank green tea had less prostate tissue inflammation, linked to cancer growth, and other changes than those who didn?t drink it, says Susanne M. Henning, PhD, RD, adjunct professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. ?We were able to show the green tea polyphenols (antioxidants) reached the prostate tissue and they did modify inflammation of the prostate,? she says. Polyphenols are antioxidants that protect against cell damage. Henning?s team assigned 79 men with prostate cancer scheduled to undergo surgery to drink either six cups of brewed green tea or water daily. They did so for three to eight weeks, depending on when their surgery was scheduled. Before and after the study, Henning obtained urine and blood samples. She collected samples of prostate tissue after the surgery. She reported on the 67 men who finished the study. Levels of prostate-specific antigen, or PSA, were ?lower after the study in those who drank green teas. Higher levels of PSA, a protein produced by the prostate gland, may reflect prostate cancer. An indicator of inflammation, called nuclear factor-kappaB, was also reduced in those who drank green tea compared to those who didn?t, Henning found. Inflammation is linked to cancer growth. ?We were not able to inhibit tumor growth,? she says. But the study length may not have been long enough to show that; a longer-term study is needed, she says. The National Institutes of Health funded the study. Green Tea & Prostate Cancer: Implications Prostate cancer is typically a slow-growing cancer, Henning says. That makes it an ideal cancer to try diet interventions to slow it even more. ?Green tea is high in polyphenols and it?s convenient,? she says. Other research has found that green tea may slow prostate cancer. An Italian study found that men who had a precursor to prostate cancer and drank green tea were less likely to get prostate cancer, Henning says.? Now, Henning is studying whether adding quercetin, an antioxidant found in apples and onions, to the green tea will ramp up its cancer-fighting ability. Sumanta Pal, MD, assistant professor of medical oncology at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, Calif., reviewed the study findings for WebMD. ?Studies such as this are critical to confirm or support a plausible explanation for how green tea may work,? he says. More study is needed, however, before making any diet recommendations. Green Tea & Breast Cancer Other researchers reported that an extract from green tea, Polyphenon E, may help inhibit breast cancer by affecting substances called growth factors. Growth factors are involved in the signals that tell breast cancer to grow. In earlier research, Katherine Crew, MD, assistant professor of medicine and epidemiology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, had assigned 40 women already treated for breast cancer to take 400, 600, or 800 milligrams of the extract or to take a placebo twice daily for six months. That was a study to examine any toxic effects of the extract. For the current study, she evaluated blood and urine samples from 34 of the women to see how the extract might work as a cancer fighter. ?We wanted to better understand the biological effects,? she says. ?After two months of Polyphenon E, there was a reduction in hepatocyte growth factor,? she says. This is one of the growth factors that affect breast cancer cell growth, spread, and invasion. That reduction declined and was not different from the placebo group at four months, however. It?s still too early to recommend green tea extract as a way to prevent breast cancer, Crew says. Green Tea & Breast Cancer: Perspective The new research on green tea and breast cancer adds to growing evidence of its benefits, according to Joanne Mortimer, MD, director of the Women?s Cancer Program at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center. ?There really does seem to be something there,? she says. The new study provides a potential explanation for why green tea may help, she says. So should women drink green tea with an eye to prevention of breast cancer? ?I don?t think we are quite ready to make that leap,? Mortimer says. ?But it is pretty interesting.? These findings were presented at a medical conference. They should be considered preliminary as they have not yet undergone the ?peer review? process, in which outside experts scrutinize the data prior to publication in a medical journal. AMC Channels Return To Dish After $700M Settlement - Business ...

    Mad Men

AMC's "Mad Men" will be restored to Dish after $700M settlement following $2.4B lawsuit.

Cablevision and AMC have finally settled their $2.4 billion lawsuit against Dish after the satellite provider dropped the network, and other VOOM channels, in June.

"Dish will pay a settlement of $700 million to Cablevision and AMC Networks, $80 million of which will go for the purchase of Cablevision's multichannel video and distribution licenses in 45 U.S. metropolitan areas," reports The Wrap.

Dish resumed broadcast of the AMC channel on Sunday--just in time for the broadcast of the popular "The Walking Dead."

Other networks, including AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel and WE TV, will be available to Dish customers starting November 1.

After today's cease fire in what has been a very dramatic cable war, it seems there are no hard feelings between the cable channel and its on-again-off-again satellite provider.

Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming at Dish, states, "We are glad to have settled the case and reestablished our long-term relationships with AMC Networks and Cablevision. This multi-year deal delivers a fair value for both parties and includes digital expansion opportunities for AMC Networks? programming.?

Cablevision, too, is playing nice, with AMC Networks President and CEO Josh Sapan saying "We are glad to partner again with DISH Network and are delighted to bring back our popular channels and programming to their customers."

The settlement comes after a "mistake" note was posted on the New York State Supreme Court website Thursday that said there would be a ?possible settlement? when the trial resumed.

As the trial proceded in New York Court last week, things looked increasingly bad for Dish as deleted emails were uncovered that would hurt their case "in a big way" while AMC's "The Walking Dead" premiere last week earned huge, better-than-broadcast ratings--proving AMC?s status as one of the top basic cable networks.

Microsoft announces Skype for Windows 8: full-screen calls, push notifications and People Hub integration

Microsoft announces Skype for Windows 8: full-screen calls, push notifications and People Hub integration

With Windows 8 going on sale in just four days, Microsoft is doing a sensible thing and releasing a version of Skype optimized for Win 8. As you'd expect, Skype for Windows 8 has the same overarching look and feel as other apps, which is to say you can swipe from left to right to see different categories, such as recent activity, favorites and a complete contacts list. But the integration with Windows 8 goes a little deeper than that. Just as you can pinch your Live Tiles to zoom out and make them easier to navigate, you can use semantic zoom to sift through a long list of contacts. And, because Skype runs in the background, you can set up your Start Screen so that the Skype Live Tile shows notifications for things like missed calls. Additionally, Skype is now baked into the People Hub, so that someone's Skype handle shows up alongside other forms of contact, like an email address or phone number.

The in-call experience has also been modified to take advantage of certain features in Win 8. For one, you can link your Skype and Microsoft account, so that when you log into your system using your Microsoft ID, you'll already be logged into Skype. While on a call, you can conduct video chats using the whole screen, at which point chat messages from that person will show up as text bubbles on the side of the screen. At any time, you can swipe to see other recent activity, which could be handy if you're juggling multiple IM conversations at once.

If you prefer, you can also dock Skype on the side of the screen, as you can with any other program in Win 8. With the Skype chat taking up just a third (or two thirds) of the screen, you can use that remaining real estate for an IM chat within Skype, or maybe a web search. Lastly, if you return to the home screen, there's a large phone icon up top where you'll find the dialer, whose number pad allow your fingers plenty of room to hit the right keys. You'll see your balance listed there, too, in the event you're not planning on making a free call to another Skype user. That's our quick summary of what's new, but if you like you'll soon be able to experience it yourself: the app will be available for free in the Windows Store on October 26th.

FedEx sees online shoppers powering holiday record

(AP) ? FedEx expects to ship a record number of packages during the holidays, thanks to shoppers' growing fondness for buying online.

The world's second-largest package delivery company expects to handle 280 million shipments between Thanksgiving and Christmas, up 13 percent from the same stretch last year.

The forecast, released Monday, comes against a background of lackluster growth in the global economy. FedEx has warned the economy is stalling and expects conditions to get worse next year. It's making big cuts in the businesses that have been the hardest hit, including its Express unit that moves top-priority shipments by air.

But the number of shipments FedEx handles at the holidays has climbed steadily along with the growth of internet purchases. The volume of packages it handles on its busiest day, which varies according to Christmas shipping deadlines, has nearly doubled since 2005.

On FedEx's busiest day this year, projected to be Dec. 10, it forecasts 19 million packages will move through its network, up 10 percent from 2011. That's in line with the increase FedEx has seen in years with normal growth rates, noted Deutsche Bank analyst Justin Yagerman. FedEx's holiday shipment growth has ranged from 4.3 percent to 18.3 percent since 2006.

Holiday shipments this year will be driven by sales of personal electronics, apparel, luxury goods and items from large internet retailers, FedEx said.

Overall holiday sales are projected to rise 4.1 percent, according to The National Retail Federation. That would be the smallest increase since 2009, but still higher than the 10-year average of 3.5 percent.

Online holiday sales will grow 16.8 percent, excluding travel purchases, according to research firm eMarketer. Online shopping accounts for about $1 in every $10 spent over the holidays.

FedEx and larger rival UPS Inc. can benefit twice when consumers shop online: They ship the gift to the receiver, and they also ship the unwanted presents that are later returned. UPS, which is based in Atlanta, hasn't yet released its holiday forecast.

FedEx moves the bulk of its cheaper, lighter weight shipments from online and catalog retailers through its SmartPost service, a partnership with the U.S. Postal Service.

FedEx SmartPost has been a huge driver of growth for the company since it was formed. Average daily package volume grew 18 percent in the fiscal first quarter ended in August, more than three times the growth rate of FedEx's overall ground shipments in the U.S.

The ground segment, which moves mostly non-priority shipments by truck, has held up despite slower growth around the globe as consumers and businesses opt for slower methods of shipping to save money.

FedEx, which is based in Memphis, Tenn., plans to hire 20,000 seasonal workers to help handle the surge ? the same as last year.

Biden tells Florida voters Romney is 'stuck in the past' on women's ...

By Julius Whigham II, Palm Beach Post -

PALM BEACH, Fla.?In a speech aimed at the middle class and female voters, Vice President Joe Biden laid out the importance of winning Florida on Friday afternoon.

Speaking before a packed gymnasium at Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce, Biden made his pitch as recent polls show the presidential race in Florida being a virtual dead heat.

?If we win Florida, we win this election,? Biden told the crowd estimated at more than 1,000.

Biden, who spoke for about 30 minutes, made an appeal to female voters while accusing the Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, of being out of touch with the middle class.

Biden told those in attendance that one area where Romney ?could not be more stuck in the past is on the issue of women?s rights.?

?Barack Obama and I are absolutely committed to ensuring that our daughters and our granddaughters have the exact same opportunities as our sons and our grandsons,? Biden told a cheering audience. ?They made it clear that they don?t believe a woman has the right to control her own body. ? It?s clear they don?t believe in protecting a woman?s equal access to health care.?

Biden cited a moment in Tuesday?s presidential debate, referencing a comment made by Romney in response to a question about women?s pay in the workplace

?When Gov. Romney was asked a direct question in the last debate whether or not women deserved equal pay for equal work, what was his answer?? Biden asked, leaving the the crowd to fill in the response of ?binders full of women.?

Biden accused the Republican presidential ticket of flip-flops on positions such as taxes, education funding and health care, telling the crowd of supporters that Romney and running mate Paul Ryan have what Obama has called ?Romnesia.?

?It?s a bad disease, and it?s contagious,? Biden said.

The vice president also made the case that the Obama administration has made progress in dealing with a deficit left behind by the Bush administration.

?In eight years, they doubled our national debt,? Biden said. ?They left the president with a $1 trillion bill the day he sat down behind his desk in January 2009 and they brought about the Great Recession of 2008 that crushed the middle class.?

Hammering home the middle class theme, Biden reminded the crowd of the ?47 percent? remarks made by Romney during a fundraiser this year in Boca Raton.

?He actually said that 47 percent of the American people are unwilling to take responsibility for their own lives. Where has he been?? Biden said. ?The American people are so much better, so much more decent, so much more responsible than these guys give them credit for. ? They?re dead wrong about Americans being dependent and they?re dead wrong about America being in decline.?

Before Biden?s speech, Democratic congressional candidate Patrick Murphy was among those warming up the audience. Murphy used the opportunity to also take a swipe at Romney?s 47 percent remark.

? Mitt Romney has made clear that the everyday American is not his concern,? Murphy told the crowd. ?He told his millionaire donors that he doesn?t care about 47 percent of Americans. We deserve a president and vice president who have our back.?

Pets are good for your health | StAugustine.com

    ANNE C. HEYMEN

Google therapy animals on the Internet, and the information is plentiful ranging from how pets are good for their owners to how owners are good for their pets.

To witness the reaction of those at the Council on Aging who were eager to hold one of Mary Siefken?s therapy dogs only re-enforces that thought.

In 2010 Siefken and her pets were featured in the August/September issue of Aspire, a publication for AvMed Medicare preferred HMO members. The story, titled ?Those Amazing Animals ? The Many Health Benefits of Interacting with Pets,? included comments from Rebecca Johnson, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, founder and director of the Research Center for Human-Animal Interaction at the University of Missouri?s College of Veterinary Medicine.

?What if medical science discovered a new drug that could lower blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels, reduce depression and loneliness, boost mood, improve your chances of survival after a coronary event, cut back on doctor visits, extend your lifespan, get you to exercise and improve your social life ? all in one convenient pill?? the article began.

There is something that can accomplish all that, the article stated. ?Pets, it turns out, are good for more than scratching furniture, chomping on mail or messing on the rug. They are also good for you.?

Spotlighting Siefken when she lived in Miami Springs, the article noted that all of her dogs were registered therapy dogs. ?People like seeing them,? Siefken told the writer. ?It gives them a big smile. I think it gives people an opportunity to think about something besides their illness.?

?Companion animals don?t have an agenda,? Johnson concluded in that article, re-enforcing what Siefken observed: Pets ?just love their people. Unconditional love never hurts anyone.?

(AP) ? Heading into the campaign's final weeks, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is upping his criticism of President Barack Obama's plans for a second term, accusing the Democrat of failing to tell Americans what he would do with four more years. The Obama campaign is aggressively disputing the notion, claiming it's Romney who hasn't provided specific details to voters.

At campaign events, in a new ad and fundraising appeal out Saturday, Romney is setting up the closing weeks as a choice between what he says is a "small" campaign that's offering little new policy and his own ambitious plan to fundamentally change America's tax code and entitlement programs.

The new Romney ad criticizes the president's policies on debt, health care, taxes, energy and Medicare, arguing that Obama is simply offering more of the same. The campaign did not say where the spot would air. The fundraising appeal hits Obama for raising taxes and increasing the debt by $5.5 trillion, repeating the lack-of-agenda criticism.

"Although President Obama won't lay out his plan for a second term, we already know what it will be ? a repeat of the last four years. We can't afford four more years of crushing debt and wasteful spending," Romney says in the letter, adding he has a clear plan to put America on a path to prosperity.

Both Obama and Romney retreated from the campaign trail Saturday to bone up on foreign policy, leaving the work of courting voters to their running mates.

Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan on Saturday continued the no-agenda theme against Obama at campaign stops near Pittsburgh and in Belmont, Ohio.

"He's not even telling you what he plans on doing," Ryan told a rain-soaked crowd of about 1,100 people at a campground in coal-rich eastern Ohio.

Obama's campaign disputes the notion that the president hasn't outlined a detailed second-term agenda, pointing to his calls for immigration reform, ending tax breaks for upper income earners, fully implementing his health care overhaul and ending the war in Afghanistan.

In a statement sent after Romney's Friday night event, Obama campaign spokesman Danny Kanner ticked through a series of policy items, calling them "just part of President Obama's agenda for a second term."

Obama, at the Democratic National Convention, called for creating 1 million manufacturing jobs over the next four years with a mix of corporate tax rate cuts and innovation and training programs. He has set a goal of cutting the growth of college tuition in half over the next 10 years. He also has called for Congress to pass proposals he made last year that include includes tax credits for companies that hire new workers and funding for local municipalities to hire more teachers, police officers and firefighters.

As for why Republicans would back the same proposals they have already voted against, Obama has told supporters he expects his re-election would "break the fever" on Capitol Hill that led to gridlock during his first term.

Vice President Joe Biden made a diagnosis of his own on Saturday, saying Ryan had caught "Romnesia," the word Obama used the day before to describe what he calls Romney's changing polices.

"That man is contagious," Biden said of Romney, to loud cheers at a campaign stop in St. Augustine, Fla. "Congressman Ryan caught it as well."

He said the Wisconsin Congressman is now giving a new explanation for cuts in the budget he oversaw and passed in the House.

The president's aides are particularly irked by the questions about Obama's second-term agenda, because they say it's Romney who has failed to provide voters with details. They point to his refusal to provide specifics about his tax plan or outline what he would replace the president's health care overhaul with if he makes good on his promise to repeal the federal law.

An independent group backing Obama, though, is trying to renew attention on Romney's tenure at the helm of the private equity firm Bain Capital. The group, Priorities USA Action, is re-airing an ad about an AMPAD plant in Marion, Ind. That spot features former employee Mike Earnest recalling being told to build a stage from which officials of the office supply company later announced mass layoffs.

He says, "It was like building my own coffin." That ad first aired in battleground states in the summer.

Romney aides have said AMPAD was a struggling business to begin with, and Bain overall created many more jobs than were lost.

That ad will air in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Nevada, Virginia and Wisconsin. The new campaign will be in addition to a $30 million effort against Romney policy proposals, the group said.

Monday's debate in Boca Raton, Fla., with its focus on international affairs, is the third and final between the two rivals and comes just 15 days before the election.

Obama left Friday for Camp David, the presidential hideaway in Maryland's Catoctin Mountains, where he is huddled with advisers preparing for the debate. Among those with him are White House senior adviser David Plouffe and senior campaign strategist David Axelrod. Aides say Obama was also being assisted by National Security Adviser Tom Donilon and former Obama aide Karen Dunn.

Romney was also with aides preparing for the debate, spending the weekend in Florida.

Both campaigns are heavily targeting Florida and its 29 electoral votes ? the most of any tossup state. It was the second day of a two-day Florida swing for Biden, which overlapped a two-day swing by Ryan. Romney's wife, Ann, was also in Florida Saturday and First Lady Michelle Obama planned a visit Monday, ahead of the presidential debate that night in Boca Raton. The president is planning at least two days of campaigning in Florida after the debate.

Monday's 90-minute debate will be moderated by Bob Schieffer of CBS News and the candidates will be seated at a table. Schieffer has listed five subject areas, with more time devoted to the Middle East and terrorism than any other topic.

While the economy has been the dominant theme of the election, foreign policy has attracted renewed media attention in the aftermath of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Obama had ranked well with the public on his handling of international issues and in fighting terrorism, especially following the death of Osama bin Laden. But the administration's response to the Libya attack and questions over levels of security at the consulate have given Romney and his Republican allies an issue with which to raise doubts about Obama's foreign policy leadership.

Romney has spent large amounts of time off the campaign trail to prepare for the upcoming foreign policy debate. Aides say the additional time preparing is well-spent even if it comes at the expense of public events.
